Performance Practise Coordinator
Dr Zara Thompson is a researcher and registered music therapist whose interests relate to disability and dementia care, and how music and music therapy can support access and inclusion. She leads the Rewire Choir program and facilitates two of our choirs that support people living with dementia and family care-partners.
Zara is a co-founder of the Dementia Inclusive Choirs Australia network and is passionate about supporting the inclusive choirs to flourish.
Zara splits her music therapy work between clinical and community practice, and research. She is currently a Dean’s Research Fellow at The University of Melbourne, where she is leading projects related to using music to reduce restrictive practices in disability care and is the founder of Ensemble Music Therapy – a private music therapy clinic based in Melbourne.
